The British American Institute opened its doors in January 1991, initially in Plaza Xica, and since 1996 at La Riera 22. Our philosophy was—and still is—to offer quality English instruction, qualified and experienced teachers, in a comfortable and friendly environment.

Since changing locations, we have added an English library and expanded until we now occupy three levels: one floor containing reception, library, multimedia, and teachers’ room, the other two floors holding classrooms.Our multimedia center is open to all our students for English study or to connect to the internet.

In 2000 we earned ISO 9002 certification-the first and still only language school in Maresme to obtain this highly coveted recognition of quality and service.

With our staff of 35 full and part-time teachers we offer both conventional classes at our school site and in-company, one-to-one, and private classes for businesses and individuals in Mataró, Maresme, and Barcelona. We will continue to work hard in the future to create the best possible learning environment for our students and staff.
